Although we were rostered to fly only on Saturday 5 November, the forecast looked great for at least Sunday and Monday as well. I think it is a shame to watch such good weather from the ground, so it made sense to arrange an operation for those days as well.
The weather did not disappoint. I had only a short flight on Saturday due to finishing the Discus form 2, but on Sunday and Monday, was able to do some longer flights. Still without water in the new glider, but still some reasonable speeds.
It was interesting to see the river in Victoria. On Saturday, I “went to Wentworth” and it is amazing to see how much water is in the system. All the back waters and flood pans are full. It was also evident that the high river was supressing thermal activity. The air was dead over the river and the Cu line terminated 20 km south and north of the river, and that line south followed the path of the river but spaced by 20 km.
We also had a great evening and meal at the Pub on Saturday night. There was a birthday to celebrate with 2 tables of people from the Gliding Club.
Keep an eye on your emails as we will certainly arrange flying when the weather looks good. It would have been a shame to waste such good conditions.
