An early start setting up with our new student Wayne Collins, proved to be an invaluable day dealing with a 25-30kt South Westerly, Bill located the pie cart on the threshold of two zero, returning to tow the ASK21 to the launch point, the gusty conditions warranted 2 wing walkers, Wayne and Rodney, while Lloyd D.I’d the Pawnee.
After Lloyds traditional circuit he returned with a flat tail wheel, that was replaced in remarkable time with the help of Wayne, Bill, Rodney and Lloyd.
John Spronk arrived to assist with running wings and taking times, many thanks to John for his assistance.
WKI Launched first clocking around 20mins in broken lift to 2500, so Rodney waited patiently until a 30kt gusty front passed, lifting dust as it proceeded across the airfield.
IKS then launched and the two sailplanes were away, 49mins for Rodney and 3 great training flights for Wayne with Bill instructing.
All in all a successful day with strong winds managed with ease, making good conversation at the bar afterwards.
