We were blessed with 2 good days of competition over the October long weekend with 7 pilots competing.
However the last day, Monday was initially declared a no contest day. After much pleading by one certain individual, it was decided to allow pilots to declare a self-declared task. This intrepid pilot set an AAT of Wki-Maggie-Morgy-W#$?kar-Wki with circles of 10-20 & 20km respectively. No start line or finish circle was evident but this was included by the long suffering scorer by manipulating the flight in SeaU. The said scorer has been continuously haggled to give a score for this flight and, since the task was not fully completed, this has caused a rather difficult conundrum. Also there was veiled hints of incentives, but no cash or alcohol was forthcoming. By analyzing the flight from all various angles in SeaU, Weglidee and Oh!elsie, it was impossible to come up with a result. Having no other flight to measure against (apart from “Dutchy” Spronk in the ASK21 who soared higher) the problem was handballed to the safety committee. They immediately washed their hands of it. So a Protests Committee was formed consisting of CFI Care, Tree-assurer and Immediate Passed Pres for consideration. The terms and conditions of entry and the local rules and the complex scoring system were consulted (these documents were available on the GA website – just you try and find ‘em!) A complex algorithm including 2Pi R squared plus and minus the observation zones and including a day factor and the min-max size of the task was applied and the result was a final Day 3 score of……….
503points!
Whilst he came both first and last on day 3, this score has catapulted him into a podium place at position 3. Congratulations Rod!
