The October Regatta prove to be a wonderful opportunity to make my way up to Waikerie after a very wet and essentially unsoarable couple of months prior to Saturday the First, which proved to be a great day.
thermals going to 6 1/2 thousand under CU the task was set Notts Well, Kingston Bridge, Wunkar, Maggea and return a 171k task with the standard 45° thistle turn points where David and Patrick both flew the full task followed by Bill, Rodney and David Jones.
Day 2 was briefed to Notts Well, Morgan, Kingston Bridge, Maggea and return 214 km with 10 km beer cans around every turnpoint, other than a 5K beer can around Maggea under CU with heights similar to day one around 6 1/2 thousand feet, with a good turn out by David in his JS1, Patrick Dunn, Bill Mudge, Rodney van den Brink, David Collins and Hayden Dunn with everyone completing the task at every turn point.
After most people headed at home for personal responsibilities, Rodney and John Spronk flew on day 3 with a self-declared task the conditions proved challenging, as a front was moving in with high altitude stratus no CU and climbs at 2 1/2 knots going to 5 1/2 thousand feet Rodney planned his task to Maggea, Morgan Wunkar and return and flew two turn points to Maggea and Morgan, although needed to cut Wunkar short to return over the Airfield around 3 hours later. All in all it was an amazing and fun experience, now I wait in anticipation for the scorer to see where my overall rank ended up, with only 654 points to score I keep my fingers crossed.
